Over 150 FHMS sixth graders attended the Renaissance Festival in Gold Canyon on Feb. 14 with their teachers and their principal. Twenty-four parents also went along as chaperones. Although the weather report was questionable, the day was pleasant, and no rain fell.

Students enjoyed the shopping, turkey legs, jousting tournament, shows, and the dozens of roving characters in costume.

Most students came home with hand-made articles from the time period: wooden swords, shields, masks, hair pieces, and “crystal sticks.”

Although the trip was a blast, it also supports the sixth grade social studies standards.

Special thanks to Mr. Hazeltine for organizing the trip, and another special thank you to all of the parents who assisted as chaperones. Without parent support, such a huge field trip would not be possible!
