FHMS To Host Substance Abuse Forum March 10
Fountain Hills Unified School District will host a substance abuse forum for parents, educators, and community members on March 10, 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the FHMS Sixth Grade Team Room. Scheduled presenters include personnel from Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, FHUSD, and Ft. McDowell Police.
“This presentation will focus on three areas: What’s out there–in terms of the specific drugs deputies see in Fountain Hills and the surrounding area; what to look for in your own child’s habits and behaviors; and what to do if you suspect your child may be involved in substance abuse,” said Mr. Brennan, Fountain Hills Middle School principal. Mr. Brennan acknowledged this presentation comes on the heels of a prescription medication incident at FHMS in January.
“The seriousness of that crisis, how many students were involved, and the level of concern among parents were all factors that led to our decision to conduct this forum,” Mr. Brennan said. “It’s an important issue for our parents, teachers, and community members to face,” he added.
Printed resources will be available for attendees to pick up. If you have questions about this presentation, call Tom Brennan, 664-5411.
