Just Like Old Times, But Different…

Published by Mr. Brennan under Mr. B's News

Once we get over the first day nervousness, the school year begins to take on familiar patterns and rhythms. Even though our schedule is different this year, most things are the same. Kids have fun visiting with their friends in the halls and at lunch, and teachers have fun teaching.

The FHMS lunch periods are much different this year. In order to provide additional team planning time for our teachers, we went from three lunches to two, and each lunch is now 50 minutes! The teachers have a 30 minute lunch time, then 20 minutes to work with their team colleagues on planning. To help the kids stay busy during their long lunch period, we open the outdoor courts for the last 20 minutes of lunch period. It has been very warm this week, but we look forward to the cooler weather when more kids can play basketball and football outdoors.

Parents, if you ever wish to visit your child during lunch, you are certainly welcome! Please check in with Marcia at the front desk for a visitor’s pass.

A Great First Day

Published by Mr. Brennan under Mr. B's News

sixth graders 3The first day of school is like no other. Well, it’s actually like the last day of school in that it’s the one day of the year kids really seem to LOVE coming to school! The sixth grade did their traditional gathering in the team room, tour, and scavanger hunt. The eight graders began to get comfortable in their new role as the leaders of the school. And, the seventh graders were glad to be moving up the “food chain.”silly 8th grade girls

It was a fun and successful day! Mr. Brennan and Mrs. Gomez provided lunch for the staff. (Big thanks to Mrs. Ciotta, Ms. Petrick, Mrs. Schrage, and Mrs. Jaynes!)
