FHMS will conduct placement testing for its Honors Program on March 11, 9:00 a.m. at Four Peaks Elementary. This testing is open to any FH community student who will be new to FHMS next year, and is required for entry into a FHMS Honors English or advanced math course. Charter school and home-schooled children are welcome to test as well! Currently enrolled FHMS honors students do not need to test.
The test will consist of three parts: reading, writing, and math. The test is based on the sixth grade AIMS and will measure students’ readiness for the challenging curriculum offered in our Honors Program.
Currently enrolled Four Peaks students will receive a letter on Feb. 19 explaining the testing and the sign-up process. Community-based students should call the FHMS administration office to schedule a spot for the March 11 test: 480-664-5400.

Members of the FHMS community were treated to a dazzling area of talent at the 14th Annual FHMS Talent Show last week on Feb. 10. In addition to the traditional evening show, students were treated to an encore presentation of the show on Friday. However, students who missed the Wednesday evening show missed the treat of seeing some of their favorite teachers performing–due to the tight schedule on Friday, the teacher acts were not able to perform.
Mr. Yoder again served as the vociferous and talented emcee for the Wednesday night show. He even got in to the act by singing “I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You” to the accompaniment of his niece Jalin on the piano. Mr. Brennan played his guitar and sang, doing a slightly different set at each show.
Student acts ranged from the comical (”Fat Burger Skit”), to the acrobatic (”Crystal Sticks” and “Russian Acrobats”), to the musical (”Wild Cards”).
The consensus among the teachers who saw the show, was that the talent level was definitely eleveated for this year’s show. It was clear that the acts had worked hard to prepare, and had taken their performance seriously.
If you had a favorite act at the show, leave a comment on Mr. B’s Blog!
