The FHMS Staff team emerged victorious in today’s game versus the eighth grade basketball team.  The staff, playing somewhat short-handed, managed to gain the lead with about four minutes left in the first half, and they never looked back. The staff team consisted of: Mr. Everhart, Mr. Keating, Mrs. Neibling, Mrs. Shirley, Mr. Smith, and Mr. Spaeth.  Ms. Klun and Mr. Yoder supported their colleagues on the bench. Mr. Brennan manned the microphone, and Mr. Churchill was on the score board. Mr. Elliott supervised the action on the court as head referee.

The students put up a valient effort, and held the lead in the early part of the game. However, they did not match up well with the staff team’s size advantage. Student team contributors included: Andrew Bryniarski, Cole Miles, Ethen Fett, Trent Bode, Richard Uphoff, Eli Campbell, Christian Wachs, and Dustin Amick.

Although the game was not a sellout, numerous FHMS students paid $1 to attend the game during the assembly. Proceeds will support eight grade promotion expenses.

In conjunction with our annual Arts in the Courtyard festival, the Fountain Hills Art League will once again donate 20% of its proceeds from its annual auction to FHMS arts programs. The auction is set for March 26, at the Fountain Hills Community Center. There is a social from 6-7 PM and the auction runs 7-9 PM.

The auction features a variety of original mixed media works under this year’s theme of “One Moment in Time.”

FHMS will hold the annual Staff vs. Students basketball game during a special assembly on March 10. Staff memebers will take on students players from this year’s Falcon basketball team. The game will begin at 1;40 in the gym.

This annual event features high flying action and athletic antics from our staff and student athletes. With Mr. Elliott as the ref and Mr. Brennan as the emcee, good times are assured for all.

Students who wish to attend the assembly must purchase a ticket by TODAY, March 9 during lunch. A limited number of tickets will be available for purchase in the office tomorrow. Students who do not attend the game will attend mandatory study hall with their team.

Fountain Hills Middle School will conduct placement testing for incoming sixth graders who are interested in participating in the FHMS Honors Program for the 2010-2011 school year. Testing will take place at Four Peaks Elementary; check-in begins at 8:45. Students must have already registered for the test in order to participate.

Students received registration forms at Four Peaks last week.  There will be a make-up test scheduled in late April for any student who misses the March 11 date.
